Is placed on the middle of Kefalonia. Nature has been quite generous with Sami, offering lots of trees, caves and underground rivers to the sea. Historically, it was the only village in Kefalonia which resisted strongly against Romans who wanted to occupy it for its strategic position. Here you can admire the remainings of the old castle as well as the the acropol (edge of the city) Kiati. Next to Sami there are the two famous caves of Kefalonia; Melisani and Drogarati. These amazing caves are in walking distance from Sami and we might visit another smaller one as well where you can swim! In August a music festival takes place close to Sami with alternative Greek rock bands and exhibitions. The beautiful beach of Antisami lies also very close offering a classic option of Ionian beach with crystal clear tirquaz waters! Here we will have dinner with local Kefalonian cuisine such meatpie and traditional greek dishes as well.
