Here you can find some useful answers for possible questions you might have!

--------The EY+ experience--------
Are the routes fixed or can we  modify them?
EYsailing suggests four routes which have been tested over the years and combine not very long sailing distances and exploration of the islands. Of course, these routes are not fixed and we are more than welcome to design the route of your trip from scratch to visit the places you want and attend any local festivals or exhibitions. The trips will also change depending on the weather!
Are there any other yachts for me and my friends?
Lito is our primary yacht and is our base for our thematic trips. However, if you want a different yacht, let us know and we will do our best to find the best solution for you!
How many guests fit on the yacht?
Aboard Lito there is space for 9 people to sleep. There are 3 double-bed cabins, one bunk-beds cabin and one more bed in the common area/saloon. This means that her maximum capacity is 8 guests and the skipper.
Do all the trips start on a Saturday or can we start our trip on an other day?
Usually the trips start on Saturday to facilitate a pleasant week trip finishing on Saturday again. However, we know that this might not be very convenient for guests from abroad who search for flights to Preveza.
Do we have to arrange our thematic trip during our booking or could we ask for it later?
It is always better to start planning your thematic trip a bit earlier than usual because such a trip needs a coordination with the theme-expert / instructor. So, if you want a thematic trip on top of the trips we organise, please let us know as early as possible.
What is the weather like in the areas that we will sail?
Summer months (middle of June until middle of September) are the most famous touristic months and the busiest. The average temperature during these months is between 25-33 ºC and during spring and autumn is between 16-25 ºC. Sailing in the Ionian is ideal for all levels of sailors, as the weather has been very generous with it. In the summer months, the leading weather phenomenon in Greece is the north-west winds ‘’meltemia’’ which on one side relieve from high temperature and also provide sailing conditions. The Ionian islands are lucky enough to be very protected against these winds as the islands themselves create a natural protection; the east side of Lefkas, the east side of Kefalonia, Ithaca, Kalamos, Kastos and Meganisi are mainly protected from these winds and the same stands for Corfu as well.
Do I need to have experience in sailing to join your trips?
Our trips are designed in such a way that no previous sailing experience is required. However, if you want to learn more about sailing, we are always very willing to teach you about the physics of sailing, practical sailing tips and yacht maneuvers. It depends absolutely on your willingness to learn!
What is the navigation like in the Ionian?
Navigation in the Ionian is absolutely fantastic! There are no tides and there are also several lighthouses for navigation at night. With our skippers onboard, you don't have to worry at all about it and you can even also learn from us as much as you want!
How am I sure that I will be safe with EYsailing's skippers?
All of us at EYsailing are certified skippers from the Sailing Club of Patras and have successfully completed all the safety procedures which should be taken into account for obtaining our sailing certificate. We have all raced under conditions much worse than what you will see in the summer and on much faster yachts; we have built this way a good experience in terms of avoiding risks and handling situations. So, this is our top priority and we have never had any accident in the sea so far. We take safety very seriously and we will have to restrict our route and sailing schedule if we judge that is beyond our safety limits to sail to our next destination. This is why we have explored all the places so we can always spend some extra time on land! And after all, there is nothing better than an enjoyable trip without problems!
Do you also provide bareboat yachts?
EYsailing does not provide bareboat yachts as this is not our expertise. Our only focus is the authentic experience around the Ionian islands to really learn the places you will visit. If however, you have come this point where you want a bareboat yacht, contact us and we will give you some suggestions about people we know that they offer quality options.
What if I only want to relax and enjoy and not worry about sailing/mooring?
It is totally up to you to how much you want to "work" on the yacht and meanwhile learn! There is always space for people to relax or take pictures. However, we always encourage our guests to learn some basic sailing principles as we think that it is exciting and useful!
It's my first on a yacht. How can I be sure that I will not suffer from seasickness?
More than half of our guests are first-time sailors with great success. There are specific tips that we will provide in case you get sea-sick to overcome it immediately! And don't forget, there is no reason to sail in the bad weather; there is always something better to do in the mainland!
Are there any specific festivals that we will visit during our trip?
There are usually few festivals going on every week and we always try to combine your route to meet these festivals in case you are interested!
Do you provide any water games, books or snorkelling equipment?
You will find onboard our yacht water games, snorkelling equipment (fins, masks, snorkels), some books in several languages and other stuff which can also help you enjoy your time on the yacht!
What would you suggest to me to bring along?
If we were to pack your bag we would probably get 2 swimsuits, 1 hat, camera for pics, flip-flops, one pair of shoes, 3 t-shirts, 1 evening shirt/dress, 2 shorts, 1 pair of shoes and a light jacket. Job done - ready to go!!
I have never cooked before on a yacht; how is it like?
Cooking on a modern yacht is not so different from cooking at your own kitchen. There are stoves, oven, two sinks and plenty of working surface. You will also find trays, pots, pans and all the necessary equipment to help you cooking and, of course, we will always be available for help or tips about it!
Do we have to cook onboard or can we explore the local restaurants?
There is no fixed plan or obligations, cooking and food depends on your desire! We can always suggest some local restaurants unless if you want to spend the night on anchor (not in a harbour) when we usually cook onboard.
What does EYsailing breakfast include?
Our breakfast is freshly prepared and includes fresh bread, Greek honey from a friend-producer in Crete, hand-made jams from IAMVI, fresh fruits and Greek yoghurt, and maybe sometimes omelette or eggs in a different form and some local specialties like local cheese and ham! You will love it!
Do you also cook onboard or should we do it ourselves?
Officially, we are not responsible for the cooking/cleaning onboard but we always give a hand and are happy to participate in it! In this case, we are able to provide some local gastronomy onboard! There is also the option to bring our chef or wine expert onboard for a culinary evening with freshly prepared 3-course dinner or wine tasting with local wines and cheese!
If we want some privacy, how can we discretely arrange it with our skipper?
All of us at EYsailing, have realised the need for some discrete moments of our guests.
--------Travelling and getting there--------
Do you provide air-flight tickets bookings as well?
We don't provide air-tickets with our bookings but we are more than happy to help you with your air-flight tickets and transportation. You can check our "How to reach us" page for more details about airliners and transportation options.
What should I bring with me?
Indicatevely, bring along : swimsuits, willies (shoes for the yacht with white bottom), sun protection, a jacket for a rare chilly evening, hat with big brim and prefer a soft bag (instead of the ones with wheels) so that we can store them somewhere aboard. Keep also in mind that because of the restricted source power aboard it is not so straightforward to use some 220V electrical devices (fair dryers, charger for plugs) away from marinas. So maybe prefer a 12V charger for mobile chargers; we have some aboard (along with a power bank) but we are not sure that everyone will be satisfied so it would be nice if you can bring your own power bank. You will also find on the boat towels, linen, blankets, snorkelling equipment and our great breakfast!
What to wear on a sailing yacht?
Usually you will find yourself hanging out with your swimsuit and a t-shirt. The atmosphere is very relaxed so you will probably wear your most comfortable outfits. If you want though to look a bit more into the mood, bring along your willies, striped shirts and sun glasses!
How do we come to Lefkas Marina?
Lefkas Marina is in the centre of city of Lefkas and only 16km away from the airport of Preveza. You can find more information on our "how to find us" page with details for airliners and transportation options!
Are there specific times that we embark / disembark?
The embarkation time is always at 17:00. But we do our best to welcome you earlier than this. We will contact with you on the day of the arrival to inform you as soon as the yacht is sparkle clean to welcome you! It is always suggested to arrive in the early afternoon to make some final shopping or even go for a swim in Lefkas city. Please contact us to give you few hints if you are spending a few days there!
How do I come from the airport to Lefkas Marina?
You can either get a taxi (around 25€ one-way) or we can arrange a private van to pick you up from the airport in case you are a bigger group!
How do I come from the coach station of Lefkas Marina?
In case you are coming from the coach station (coach from Athens or Thessaloniki or Corfu) you can even walk to the yacht (about 10-15') or get a taxi. Don't forget to ring us in advance to offer you a hand!
Is my car safe if I park it close to the Marina?
Absolutely safe! We never had a problem in the car park of the Marina or even outside the Marina.
--------Booking--------
How do I book my trip?
In order to book you trip you first need to contact us through our contact form or via email, in order for to tailor your trip according your special needs and interests! We will then come back to you (during the same day) with the available options and with a unique booking code for you. You may then use this booking code to complete your booking.
How do I complete my booking?
You should have first contacted us to get your booking code. In order to secure your trip you need to pay the booking fee (1000€ for a week trip and 1500€ for two weeks trip and longer); the rest of the payment should be completed until 40 days before the start of the trip. Using this code, you may then complete the payment either payment all the instalments together, or you may split it between your friends!
How long in advance should we book our trip?
There is no specific restriction for the booking of your trip. Bookings start coming in around September and you can even contact us few days in advance of your desired dates. It is always a better idea however to book as soon as possible, especially for airflight tickets which can shoot up when summer begins. A special note must be taken in the case you would like a thematic trip, in which case we might need some extra time to organise it and contact the instructor if required.
--------Prices--------
What happens if the boat gets damaged?
The boat is insured (and you can ask for a personal insurance as well for yourself) and our skipper is responsible for the maneuvers in the harbours, so you don't have to worry about it. In the case that a damage is caused only by a guest, then the simplest solutions is usually achieved without additional charges on top of the initial cost.
Are there any additional costs to the price you advertise?
As stated in the "Prices" page, in the price are included: skipper, the introductory EY+ package, our breakfast, 1 dinner with fresh fish (hopefully!), WiFi 1GB/week, bed linen and towels, dinghy with engine, marina costs, check in/out costs, fuel and water costs for the boat, cleaning fees and VAT & taxes. The costs which are not included in this price are you flight tickets, transportation from the airport to the yacht and your expenses for lunch, dinner and alcohol.
What about shopping and supplies before boarding?
There is a supermarket in walking distance from the yacht where you can find all the necessary supplies but at most of our stops there are some smaller shops! You can also ask us in advance to buy for you all the food supplies so that you don't waste time shopping on your arrival!
